Default Bought air compressor. Life is good!

In winter, some people get colds, while others get the flu. Here in the C3 forum, we seem to get the tool buying bug! :D

And it's amazing just how cheaply half-decent stuff can be purchased. For example, I got a 5 hp, 20 gallon DeVilbiss air compressor at Lowe's for $199 -- and it's not junk at all. They also had a big box of air tools: impact wrench, air ratchet, air hammer, cutting/grinding tool . . . all for $79! I know they're not the best tools out there, but if I keep 'em oiled they'll last me a good long time!

Need a rationale for buying all the tools you want? They more than pay for themselves in the first job!

You need rationale for buying tools?

Not me, if it looks cool and I have the money I get it!

The wife on the other hand needs rationale for me buying tools.
When she brings that up, i ask her how much money I have saved because I maintain ALL of our vehicles( ie not one of my cars has been to a mechanic except for alignments and safeties). She shuts up pretty quick after that.

I bought a cheap welder, the next week her car gets a massive exhaust leak( GM cheapness was the cause- stainless steel exhaust, mild steel hangers welded onto it!) I repaired it and my weler had paid for itself( even in my wifes mind)

Nah. My wife encourages me to buy tools! She says that I'm the only mechanic she trusts.

Of course, it doesn't hurt that she bought a $1000 sewing machine recently :hat

That ain't nothing! You can buy top-of-the-line embroidery machines for $3500. And you'll need a serger too -- figure on another cool grand.

Now go do the math and figure all that out in $CDN :lolg:

Cool, air compressors are very useful. You can do all kinds of things. A 5hp unit will do quite a bit. I love new tools, I love tools, hmmm, I remember saying the same thing in another thread. I think I'm repeating myself. Anyway, congrats on some new, cool, tools. Have fun!

Good buy :)

I just bought a 5 hp compressor for myself for Christmas. It sure makes things easy. My fiance was helping me remove the rad, and she was using the air ratchet and ended up smashing her thumb between the handle and the fender. :smash:

I told her she was only allowed to use the hand tools after that, but the help is still appreciated. ;)

More tools are good! :yesnod: Even if I only use a tool once, its better than paying someone else to screw it up trying to fix it. :D
