thinking of putting updated mirror on the windshield, anyone done this, which car would I have to take it off of, where does the compass information and temp. info come from??? I would like to have a print to read.. anyone done this and have pic's???

I'm using a late model Lumina mirror. Not compass or temp, but cool map lights. Easy to hook up, but requires pulling the inside windsheild trim. I believe the compass and temp work through the ECM.

I kinda figured that it came from the ecm, I know I read something or saw something in a mag. about this it sure would make it kinda neat and maybe not that expensive :cool: :cool:

Petty, I have the compass and temp mirror in my '01 Chevy dump, (chassis body), Silverado LS. It is great, I find myself checking the accuracy a lot with the radio temp, it's right on. Very nice to have. Pick up a JC Whitney catalog. The ones they sell there must be exactly the same as chevy uses.
On start-up in my dump if the temp is below freezing, it will even warn you of ice, not that your Vette will see that stuff. The mirrors are also in the Chevy S Blazers, Tahoes, Subs, etc. :chevy
