New starter when converting from auto to manual tranny
I want to convert from my TH400 to a Tremec 5 speed manual.
Bought a used, original 73 Corvette flywheel (small block).
Does anybody know wether my starter (attachment holes are not parallel) can be used on that setup?
Thanx!

Re: New starter when converting from auto to manual tranny (V8yunkie)
(V8yunkie),
Count the teeth on the original flex plate (auto transmission) it should be either 168 or 153 now count the teeth on the flywheel for the standard transmission they should be the same, starter should then fit.
Starter motor with staggered mounting holes are used with 168 tooth flywheel.
Starter motor with in line mounting holes are used with 153 tooth flywheel.
Hope that helps.
