Default Dart Pro 1 Aluminum Heads

Howdy I was wondering if anyone is using the SMC Dart Pro 1 Heads on their vette with Hooker side mount Headers. These Heads Have angled Spark plugs. Do they have a clearance Problem with the header. I am trying to decide with head to go with angle or straight? Thanks Larry

I went straight with the AFR's because no one could give me a straight answer. The fact is most Vettes with sides, are running stock heads, which are straight, and just want the car to look and sound hot. Which the pipes will do.!
On the heads,I paid $1350. for the AFR's,a difference of only around $200 at the time between the Pro One's.

Thanks Money Pit. It looks like there is room enough for angle plugs with my headers. I need at least 230cc. For a 421 roller motor that I am Building, These heads i found are230cc with all the goodies Titanium Retainers & Locks, and All the machine work has been done. plus I may be able to purchase them from a friend of a friend for around $850. To good to pass up. Never used. Its hard to believe somebody hasn't ran into this problem yet? will they or will they NOT fit Small Blk With Hooker side mount headers, Part #2234HKR I only have a few days to decide, because somebody else want them if I don't. I got first dibs    Thanks Larry

HI 69vette66, I too am considering those same heads (227cc CNC ) for my current engine buildup. I currnetly am running Sportsman II with angled plugs on my 350 without any problem mounting the Hooker Headers, so my next head will also be angled :) .

Thanks SmokedTires, They looked like they would clear with no problem. I just wanted to make sure.

Just remember, all angle plug heads don't have the same angle. I've had Trick Flows and my current SportsmanII's. The Hedman headers I used to have fit completely different with each set of heads and they were both angle plugs. The Trick Flows were VERY close on 3 of 8 plugs while the SportsmanII's were slightly close on only 1 plug.

To give you another data point, I have not clearance problems with AFR head with the L98 angled plugs.

I'll go out on a limb and say that I believe any angled head can be made to work with the Hooker side pipe headers with the shorty plugs if push comes to shove.
