New Distributor Help.
I am looking to buy a new distributor for my vette. I think mine has had the lick. I don`t want to put an ignition box in the engine compartment. What I would like to do is just drop one in, plug the wires up and go riding. I was thinking about a MSD with tach drive.
I know there have to be some out here using aftermarket distributors with tach drive, which one are you using and how easy is the setup?
Thanks for any help.

Hi Eddie. Here's a related topic. I had a question about using an HEI distributor on a 68-74. It turned out to be a pretty good thread about 68-74 distributors in general and other options.
I'm going to stick to a tach drive with the old points & condenser. :yesnod:

If your tach drive still works and you want to get rid of the points consider a Pertronix electronic ignition conversion. I've used them on cars and boats and have been real pleased. Cost less than a hundred bucks and takes about 15 minutes to install.

Unless they've come out with something different recently, the MSD tach drive distributors require the use of their box also. As already mentioned, if just converting to electric is your goal, there are conversions available from Pertronic, and also others.
What is the problem with your distributor? Are you sure that the problem is in the distributor?
