Whew...3.5 hours on one bolt..
Any suggestions folks,
I've just spent 3.5 hours trying to get one bolt on....
I have bought a pair of the replacement door handles and got them hooked up right, however I can only get the lower nut on at the bottom, and I can't get the other one to save my life...3.5 hours and two cut hands and lots of frustration later, still no go...any suggestions on how to reach that hard to get to spot...
I'm taken off the panel to the electric window and tried to get to it that way, however that was only useful in retrieving the stupid nut I kept dropping, I can't seem to get it to thread on the stem...Grrr :mad :mad
Any help would be useful..anyone ever done this and know of an easy way..
I used a regular wrench, a pair of neelde nose pliers and a rachet wrench..all to no avail...I'm glad it's florida or the amount of time I spent out side would have frozen me solid...
Thanks for any help...

I don't remember exactly, but I think I removed the screw for the doo latch. I think this allowed the mechanism to drop down a little. I also remember using a swivel on the socket. It wasn't a job I'd like to repeat. :cuss :cuss

Not sure which nut your refering to,but on some hard to start nuts were access was tight I've taken tape {electrical, masking, duct tape}and wraped it around one finger with the stick side out to hold it on my finger and was able to start it this way :seeya

Gotta Fix my '76,
I had the window and window frame out of the car when I did mine. You might try one of those screwdriver type tools that have a flexible cable (kind of like a very large diameter speedometer cable) that extends about 10". A socket with a magnetic plug will hold the nut while you maneuver it into place.
If you remove the lock would that give you more room? Also my 1980 had a plastic dust/rain shield over the lock, removing that might also help.
Sorry not much help.

Can't help ya, but I know the feeling! Spent 4 hours with nothing to show for it on trying to get the rear spare tire carrier bolts out today. :banghead:

Unscrew the 3? Phillips head screws on the trailing edge of the door. These are the screws that hold the door latch. Remove the screws. This will allow the latch to drop, giving you more room. Use a 1/4 inch drive socket on a flex driver. Use a dab of "dum dum" caulk to hold the nut to the socket when you put it on. PIA job. Chuck
