My vette and I are moving North
And the rest of the family too. Just go a promotion which forces me to move from warm NC to cold New Jersey :cry So much for driving year round. Now I have to read those threads on storing my vette for the winter. Anyone know of a good vette repair/restoration shop in centeral Jersey? Also, any good vette activities coming up in the Spring up North?

I'll be flying to NYC next summer and will join the New Jersey Caravan to Nashville. Maybe we'll see there? And I don't think NJ is that cold, it's been -22 degrees fahrenheit here for 3 weeks straight!!!! :cry

Its not that cold here in Jersey. You can sometimes drive in the winter. I keep mine ready for the occasional nice day to drive. Right now it is 26 out and they say it is real cold. I don't consider that real cold. It was up in the 50s recently. We rarely get long stretches of cold. Not quite as warm as NC but not as bad as New England. What town are you moving to?

Re: My vette and I are moving North (Gordonm)
GroovyJay, nothing is as cold at -22. My body would shut down and hibernate at that temp.
Gordonm, not sure what town. I will be flying back and forth between Jersey and Charlotte until I sell my house. My wife will fly up to look around, but we will most likely find a town on the Western side of Jersey...Washington Twp, Burlington Twp, etc... We lived in Philly and Scranton for 3.5 years in the mid 90s.

Hey Frankenvette, there's a bunch of us up here in ICELAND (Northern NJ)
I have a couple of very reputable Vette repair shops on my list.
When you get up here, post something on the Forum, and the local guys and
gals will be happy to welcome you. :yesnod:
You can email me at pb82ce@optonline.net as well. :D

I hope the Smog Police will be at the doughnut shop while you drive your Vette. That's a huge reason I won't leave Pa.,even though I work in Md.

Depending on housing costs, and taxes and such, that salary increase may not bring in one dime extra....much less the utility costs....and of course the extra wear/tear/communting costs....most all of which are out of pocket expenses YOU pay with NO tax benefit....
IN all honesty....I don't suppose I"d do that....turn it down is what I"m saying....you will not be working there in a few more years anyway....
private industry is like that....get close to 20 years and you will be out anyway, and looking....
be ME,....look around and check you options...only ONE life, why spend it freezing to death???

Hi Rose,
Yea, I'll miss you guys too. Hopefully I will only be up North for a few years. I've been waiting on an opportunity with this company for about 3 years, and the move is well worth it. BUT...I'll miss North Carolina and all the folks.
Can any NJ people tell me about the emissions laws up there? My vette is titled as a 73 even though I list it as a 1980....thus the name frankenvette

Re: My vette and I are moving North (patsnitrovette)
What is the inspection on an old vette up there? Do they exempt cars 25 years and older? Will I get sniffed? I don't have any emissions on this car. I only get a safety inspection in NC. I sure hope I don't have to go purchase all kinds of crap for the car. My vortec heads don't have egr capability.

Re: My vette and I are moving North (Frankenvette)
If you register your car with historic plates there is no inspection at all but there are usage restrictions ie; driving to shows, parades, club events, etc, only. Car must be 25 yrs old.
Pete, she's still in the shop...should be getting her back this coming weekend.
