Re: Pioneer CD Player (Rich80)
as far as recievers go, pioneer will give you pretty much the best bang for your buck. as far as quality goes, any time you spend over 200$$ for a cd player for your car you are paying for bells and whistles. the 190$$ pioneer and the 550$$ pioneer have the same sound quality. what you need to look at is what you plan on doing with the stereo. if you plan on having subwoofers or high powered speakers that require an external amplifier, then you want to buy a reciever that has preamp outputs. your reciever(cd-player) is your limiting factor in upgrading a stereo. decide how far you want to go... now and in the future and buy the cheapest player(over 150$$) that will support what you want to do. but stay with pioneer, its a very good brand. i prefer the non-premier models. good luck! :chevy
EDIT: oh and if you want to look at some models go to http://www.crutchfield.com

Re: Pioneer CD Player (battsup)
Those flashy CD players with animations and oscilliscopes/etc. are annoying. I bought a low-end Alpine unit for $380 that matches the interior lights, has all the functions you'd ever want, and I haven't heard it skip once. It has a very utilitarian display. Together with that FP-306(?) installation part, it looks like it belongs in the car.
P.S.: Get one with a volume **** rather than volume buttons. It's worth it.
