JCL baffles installed this afternoon
Those who have been following my mods know that I pulled the Hooker glasspacks out after 40 miles (b/c of poor performance), and have been running open pipes for the last 2-3 weeks. Well, I was just becoming real self-conscious about it. I live in the city, have a good rapport with my neighbors and the local law enforcement. I was beginning to feel everytime I fired up the car, the neighbors might get fed up with it and make some phone calls. Yesterday I was driving it around, and even just easing away from stoplights, etc. it was just too loud. I found myself babying the car in an effort to keep the noise down.
So, this afternoon I pulled it all apart and installed the JCL inserts. I followed Chuck Harmon's advice and cut off/removed the front cap. Those of you familiar with these know what I'm referring to. I wanted the maximum power potential I could get.
Firing it up was a pleasure. It sounds nice and throaty, but not obnoxious. My neighbors will still hear me, but they won't be mad when I give it just a bit of throttle. I took it for a spin, nervous that I had lost some substantial power. Well...
Nope, I can't feel any loss. Granted it is ~50^F here in Dallas and the sun had gone down, so the road was cool, but it blew off the wide Z-rated 285mm tires all the way through 2nd. At this point I was going well over the speed limit, so I didn't stay on the throttle. Engine pulls right up to 5500, which is where its done anyway (camming issue).
Again, the idle and part throttle cruise is great sounding. Not so loud everyone will get annoyed. But, at WOT, it is just a hair quieter than open pipes.
The prelimary report from me is that these things are outstanding!! :D
Another happy JCL customer!! Jim, let me know when you get your Z06 and you do some baffles for the C5. :D

Thanks for the compliments on the baffles...... As far as the C5's, as we speak. Should be ready to be dyno'd and dB'd within a week or so. ECS in NJ will be doing the testing. (Chris & Mike) Later, JIM :yesnod:
