How can I tow a 70 vett
I am about to take the engine out of my car and need to transport it to a different location. Is there a way of towing a 1970 vett to try and save me the cost of hiring a flat bed. I have had a look but cannnot see anywhere to tie to. I have thought about taking the no plate and grill off to try and tie a rope to the cassis member which goes to the front bumper. Has anyone got any other ideas ??. Thanks for your help.

I towed my 1970 on a car dolly when I purchased the car since it was not running. Worked out real good.
Hope this helps and good luck

Re: How can I tow a 70 vett (soapy)
I was hoping I could just find a way of towing it with rope, I not going very far and don't know anyone with a dolly. My friend has a car trailer but it was made for british cars and my vett is a couple of inches too wide.

Does your vette have brakes still? If not, don't even try it.
I towed my 240z for a couple miles behind a frinds truck with a tow rope... It sucked... (no engine/tranny/driveshaft so the front end was way up in the air).
If you do do it, be *very* careful and go really slow.

If you don't have very far and you have brakes, it shouldn't be any problem. I think the owners manual had a warning about towing more than (50???) miles, without disconnecting the driveshaft. If you only pulling it a few miles it shouldn't be any problem.

Depending on how much a flat bed is you may want to go with Uhaul. I towed mine from Nashville TN to Richmond VA with a Uhaul trailer. It only costs about 40-50 dollars for a one day rental. If you have a truck or someone you know has a truck, its a pretty cheap and safe way to go.

A Corvette with no motor -- just get in front of it and call its name "come here come on good boy thats a good boy" Good plan to get it towed that way you wont be sitting there looking at damage to your Vette because you screwed somehting up. Or even worst get a ticket for towing a car like that I know it is illegal in California to tow a car like that --unless you have a pole between the cars or some crap like that.
