Will GUNK eat gaskets?
I need to degrease the diff case so I can change the fluid without getting all messy. It looks like it's been slowly leaking for many, many years (and it'll keep slowly leaking until I get up the ambition to change the gasket).
So, can I spray GUNK or whatever on there without destroying what's left of the gasket?

Not unless the only thing holding the gear lube in is the built-up grease :D the rear end cover gasket is about an inch wide, so what ever effect gunk has will only be on the edge that's sticking outside the the cover.
