That is a pretty good 60 foot time. I have a similar motor setup but my car no way hooks like yours. The best I have done is 12.7 at 110 wit ha 1.97 60 foot time. Street tires. Your car really hooks to be in the 11s with a 113 trap speed. Thats

Hey WillRace4Food,

do you run a stock rear end with those 60' times?? I'm worried about breaking mine (I might actually have broken already something in my rear end)... and I'm usually only running 1.70's 60' time.. (once I was in the 1.60's)

gordonm. I haven't done anyting to the suspension. I actually have road race springs on front and back. I run a 275/50 drag radial..stall it up to about 2500..and flat foot it out of the hole. The car just squats and goes. I run about 18 lbs in the tires. I'm usually on a pretty descent track to that helps too.

71...I'm always up for racing...lol. My vette is down right now..some kind of crazy ignition or fire problem I'm trying to work out. I thought it jumped time at first...pulled the motor down..everything fine..plugs/wires/coil..all replaced..no change..thought maybe it wasn't getting fuel..changing pump..no change..I'm gonna put a new dist. in it and see what happens. Good to see some La. guys like to use their vette.

Grandsport...yea..stock rear end. I have Spicer black u-joints in it but everything else is stock...well..besides the strange 3.90 gears. You manual guys are much harder on the rear end since I can preload it at the line. YOu guys just shock them ..thats what breaks em. What posi are you running? May be worth a locker if you can live with it on the street(do they make those for vettes?) Iknow all about that. My other car is a 95 formula 6 speed(in sig). I put a 9" in that thing to handle launching but have managed 1.49 60's in it. With 115 you guys are just some good shifts away from the 11s. Its a skill and takes practice. Here are 2 of my runs in my other car..shifting away. http://www.ipsb.net/herringt/video/TimH1108.mpg
http://www.ipsb.net/herringt/video/timH1114.mpg

Bang those gears guys..go 11s and get kicked off the track :yesnod:

Good to see some fast cars here.

Tim

My best 60' was a 2.08 :U

With some modifications in the very near future I am hoping to hit mid 11s.

Oh you too, I am having a problem right now with ignition as well, sputtering at around 3000 RPM. Must be something in the air.

Get some offset trailing arms and run 325/50R15 BFG Drag Radials and you won't have anymore traction problems.. That's the setup that I'm going to go with... I'm sure that - if you hook up right - you should be in the 11.70 - 11.80 range...

[QUOTE]Grandsport...yea..stock rear end. I have Spicer black u-joints in it but everything else is stock...[/quick]
That sounds exactly like my setup... I use solid Spicers and a stock rear end

well..besides the strange 3.90 gears. You manual guys are much harder on the rear end since I can preload it at the line. YOu guys just shock them ..thats what breaks em. What posi are you running?
I'm running 3.55 rear gears. (The gears on my tranny are 3.27 1.98 1.34 1.00 .68) (Tremec TKO 5-speed)
May be worth a locker if you can live with it on the street(do they make those for vettes?) Iknow all about that.
dunno..
I'm thinking in upgrading the rear end with stronger parts.. If I'm unable to fix my current problems with the rear - I will have the rear end rebuild with stronger parts. I spoke with Van Steel and I told them what kind of 60' times I'm running and they say that they can rebuild my rear end so that I can run those kind of 60' times without breaking it... My mph also indicated a solid 11 secind car...
My other car is a 95 formula 6 speed(in sig). I put a 9" in that thing to handle launching but have managed 1.49 60's in it. With 115 you guys are just some good shifts away from the 11s. Its a skill and takes practice.
Well - I know that I'm shifting too slow (especially because the mech. clutch has a long way to depress the clutch completely). With faster shifts and a better 60' time - I'm 100% sure that I'll be in the 11's... A professional driver that would powershift would make mid 11's with my car for sure... Well - I don't have a scattershield - so it's not too wiseley to powershift...
Here are 2 of my runs in my other car..shifting away.

My best Et run was as follows:

60' 2.104
330' 5.234
1/8 7.901 @ 97.19
1000 10.088
1/4 11.912 @ 123.91

This was with 275 15 BFG Radial TA street tires and thru restrictive side pipe mufflers. Lots of finesse to hook up in 1st and 2nd.

low et slip, high mph slip. The reason for the "go to tower" note was so they could chew my butt out for doing dry burnouts in the staging. Runs made with street radials and thru the mufflers.

very nice zl1. your picking up 26 mph on the top end..that thing is pullin like a mule. Get some traction and let that thing breath.

Jim...thats a big difference in MPH. I've found that when you sping hard off the line that the mph goes up but the et suffers. When you dead hook the et is better and mph goes down.

Whats the deal with all you guys on street tires... :nonod:
