Default Flex a lite Blackmagic electric fans?? help.

I am looking at different electric fans. The dual spal setup is NOT an option.
I have it down to two models from flex-a-lite. The 210 dual 12", and the one i'd like to get, the single 15 blackmagic 2900cfm fan setup.
http://www.flex-a-lite.com/auto/blackmag.htm

I have no current cooling problems and can idle around in 95+degree weather using a standard flex fan without a fan clutch. I think the single fan would be sufficient. I would like to know from some of the experts on the subject if the lack of radiator coverage will hurt performance. The dimensions are 18x16x4.5.

The dual 12's only cost 20 dollars more, but are 600cfm less. I know people here run the 210's without incident, but I would like to get the single fan if it won't come back to haunt me.

Thanks!

I am running the dual flex a lite 210's on my 454 and they work great and the fit like a glove. Can't beat the price 1st rate quality

I am no expert, but a single fan did not adequately cool my 350. Fkexalite dual fans worked. The fans also fit tight against the radiator and the adjustable brackets supplied with the fans fit onto the radiator cradle. Why take a chance with a single fan set up, if you can get a dual set-up for an additional 20? Roger L. Gibbons

Why don't you get the Permacool 2950cfm fan.. It's only around $90 and outperforms fans that are more than twice as expensive...

454-73 Thanks, I think i may end up using the 210's after all. How much room do you have between the water pump and fans? Do you have any pictures of your install?

Roger L. Gibbons What single fan were you running, also what have you done to your 350? I am leaning towards the RED 210.

GrandSportC3 If I remember correctly your running two electrics, AND your mechanical fan? Or have you decide to just go with the single permacool? Also, what did you use for a thermistat control and relay?

SuperFast80 My post has nothing to do with George, I could care less if he was banned. Take the matter up with him through IM or one of the moderators. If you have some useful information regarding the subject, why not post that. :smash:

I used to run dual electrics and one mechanical fan.. Now I'm running triple electric.(dual Flex-a-Lite Pushers and Permacool puller). However - my Flex-a-Lites are switchable and I usually don't need to turn them on because the Permacool is able to keep the car cool... Only on hot summer days - I turn on one of the 2 Flex-a-Lites.. If I turn on both Flex-a-Lites and turn off the Permacool - the car overheats...

I installed a LT1 TPI that was for a 93 Camaro. That engine has no fan. I tried to use a single electric fan, but I don't think that enough air moved over the radiator surface. The fans are controlled by a switch, but once the fan comes on they stay on. It runs at about 200 degrees. Roger L. Gibbons

I am running the flexalite 210's and as already said the fit was great. I am running them on the griffin universal alum. radiator and have no overheating problems to speak of. The engine is a 350 with performer rpm, vortec heads, comp cams 268H. The single fan could work but I would think that you would have to build a shroud to transition from the surface area of the radiator to the fan, if not you will not get cooling across the entire radiator. I can email you pics from tonight if you like...just let me know.

No I do not have pics. The install is a real snap. 1st remove the fan and shroud. 2nd install a steal bar at the bottom of the rad I used the mounting bolts were the bottom of the shroud was bolted The bar will support the weight of the fans at this point use the "through the rad mounting hardware" supplied by flex a lite. 3rd mount the adjustable thermostat with 2-srews on top of the rad near the inlet rad hose. 4th run a direct hot lead from your starter and you are done. The install will take you 3 to 4 hours. If you lived in the Toronto area with my help 2-hours. As far as room you will clear the A-arms by at least 1 inch. Good Luck

Roger L Gibbons Thanks, I try to keep my temps at 165. At this point i'm considering GrandSportC3's suggesting of going with a permacool 16." If this isn't quite enough i can just add an inexpensive pusher fan.

454-73 Thank you for the heads up on the install. I am wondering about the clerance because i want to install a shock tower spreader bar.

1bad69 Funny, i just went and got that pic from the banned profile :D :smash:
