Bouncing gas gage needle
I have a "78" C-3 and for some unknown reason the needle on the gas gage one day started bouncing. When the tank is full or empty it's it doesn't bounce. How can I stop the bouncing needle? What happened to it? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have the same problem on my 1980. When it is pegged on 'full', the needle doesn't bounce. Once it starts to move off of 'full', it has a tendency to 'jerk' right/left. I suspect a gas tank sender unit short or a defective stamped plastic circuit behind the gauges.

i think every C3 owner has this problem although it can be fixed, i just haven't got around to doing it. if you come to a stop, the gauge stops bouncing, right?

Mine was both the sending unit and the gauge. I replaced the sending unit and it then took much move car movement to get it to bounce. I had to also change the gauge itself to fix it.

Yep, solid. Hard to say which I'd try first. Both are just about as involved.
