Default Swaping a t-56 to my 76 Stingray

I'm thinking of swaping the transmittions on the two cars listed in my sig. The firebird is getting to a point where with a 6 speed I'm hitting the tires so hard to get 1.4x 60' that I'm starting to break things and I've kinda wanted to change my vette into a real nice fast driver that I could take some trips in if I felt like it. Whats all involved in converting over a auto to a manual in these cars. I know someone has done it here so I was wondering if I could pick your brain some. The bird would be faster(1.3x 60's with right converter) and the Vette would be a great driver with the 6 speed.

All help and advice appreciated

Tim
