1000hp v-16 from GM - Cadillac!!!!
Have any of you seen this yet? I saw it on the MSN headlines from one of the auto shows. It's a new Cadillac (I think it's still a concept car) that has a 1000hp v-16 and is called the Sixteen. I personally think they've finally gone too far. Can you imagine the cost of changing spark plugs and wires?

No wonder new cars cost so much. The General is spending all this money to build a prototype of something that we all know there is no chance of ever being built. Imagine what it costs to build this car and put on the production to unveil it and it'll probably be scrapheaped and crushed anyway. I just don't get it.

I saw a little while back that they were going to bring a V-12 into production

I think prototype cars are the company's way of allowing the engineers to "start fresh". I think automotive engineers are probably pressured to stay conservative in design and not stray too far from "what already works". It is really mind-boggling when you think a small screw-up can cost millions when a recall comes up. W/ the prototype, you can fool around w/ new technologies before committing them to production.

Take the money spent on these toys that will never see production and knock 25% off the price of a new Vette :D

The General is determined to recapture the "Standard of the World" title for Cadillac.
I think the moves they've made lately (new models, mind-blowing concepts) are necessary to recapture the hearts and minds of all the well-off 35-50 year olds that are buying/leasing Bimmers, Benzs and Lexus.

They showed it on the ABC World News tonight. It's at the Detroit Auto Show.
It's only $300,000.00
I'd like two. Take a check? :jester

I heard $200,000-300,000 for the car and ONE BILLION $ for the tooling and set up costs. A billion here and a billion there, before you know it your talking a lot of money :smash:

Now, who is going to be the first one to figure out how to transplant that engine between the fenders of a C3.
