Steeroids group purchase -- Jan/Feb -- new thread
All, I have decided to start a new thread as the old one was getting painfully long, especially with dial-up.
Latest info: 1/13/03 We now have 10 people, the ordering window is open now through Feb 28.
You can also join this group purchase by noting it in this thread, or just contacting Speed Direct through the methods listed under ordering instructions.
Speed Direct will participate in a group purchase for the Steeroids for 63-82 vettes and the price will be $983 plus shipping (approximately $35) if we get 10 orders. I'll keep track of those that want in on the deal in this post. I will edit this specific post, so if the thread is more than one page, check back here.
The normal price for this kit is $1156 at STEEROIDS for 63-82 Corvettes The brackets are all powder coated black, however, the ones in the site photos are shown in purple for photographic purposes. Steeroids does not permanently alter your Corvette, you can put it back to the stock system at a later time if you so desire.
ORDERING INSTRUCTIONS: You may order either from the website, ( STEEROIDS for 63-82 Corvettes ) or by phone (888 425-2776). When you order, state that you are with the corvette forum group purchase and give your forum name. If you order through the web site, it will look like it charges the full amount but they will go back and refund the discount once the order goes through. The ordering window will be open from now until Feb. 28th. Speed Direct will ship within two weeks, depending on the number of orders they have to fill.
Now that this is set at $983, plus shipping (approximately $35), who is in for the second group purchase?
If you are listed in red below then I still have not received a response from you as to whether or not you still want in on this group purchase. Please either reply to this post, or respond to the e-mail that I sent you.
Those that are in purple have provided a response, but are still unsure about purchasing at this time.

I have no new updates and I'm still waiting on responses from the individuals listed in red. Hopefully some new people will see this and decide to buy.

Re: Steeroids group purchase -- Jan/Feb -- new thread (Captain Morgan)
Avery,
I am still interested but, alas, closing in on the window it looks like I am going to have to bow out. I can't spare the funds right now, unless something changes in the next 2 weeks (too bad, 'cause I really need this upgrade to my steering. Car has about 2 inches of play either way in the steering column!) Keep me on your mailing lsit in case things change. Thanks.

Re: Steeroids group purchase -- Jan/Feb -- new thread (Captain Morgan)
Wow!
Am I ever glad I logged in and checked out the latest goings on.
I AM IN!
I will be prepared to place my order at the end of next week, 100% before the 15th of Feb.
Put me down slick!!!!!!!!! :steering:
If anyone wants to buy some brand new coventional steering components I will have them for sale - probably on ebay or something, will try to re-coup the $$$ from installing them. Installed them, but never used em once. I am still in the rebirth process and planned to rip all the (newly installed) hydraulic stuff off and slap on the Streeroids. Purchased the slave unit and "shock" from Zip. Had them rebuild the gear too. Never even had any fluid pumped through yet.

I've updated the list and sent my window suggestion to Speed Direct. Once I get confirmation from them, I'll send out e-mails.

It looks like we are ready to go ahead with this. If anyone has any questions please let us know. Keep in mind that anyone can still join the purchase while it is in progress.

Any chance of getting a few $ off the clutch linkage if ordered with the steeroids? Every penny helps with these money hungry beasts. :)

Re: Steeroids group purchase -- Jan/Feb -- new thread (Captain Morgan)
Avery,
I just got your email that this deal is a "GO" and that the window will be open to anyone from the forum until FEB 28th. Great job! :flag
I know I said "NO" before but the wife thinks we should do it if it will improve the play in the steering as much as the manufacturer says. The cash is less important the safety factor you get (God, I love me wife! :auto: )
What I need is some forum members to confirm that this product will take the 2 inches of play out of the steering, especially on center. Can anyone give me a response (other than the manufacturer).
THANKS!!

Do a forum search on steeroids, and you should be able to find various posts about it. Unfortunately, most of the people that ordered with the first purchase have not installed it yet. However, I'm sure you'll find some results with a search, although it may take some sifting through threads to find what you're looking for.

Re: Steeroids group purchase -- Jan/Feb -- new thread (03 Z06)
Been trying to order for 4 days now. They keep rejecting my internet order. I'm going to call on my next day off and order over the phone. Its kind of hard to catch them when your 12 hours or so ahead:)

SharkByte, I looked into your order but I can't figure out why it is doing that. Shoot me an e-mail at salescf@speeddirect.com so I can get this sorted out.
Fevre, we talked it over and decided we could give a $5 discount if you (or anyone else) bought a clutch linkage along with your Steeroids. I know it's not much but like you said every little bit helps.

One other note. Just for everyone's information, expect the ship date to be as long as two weeks. At the moment we are shipping orders within a week but this is the busy time for us. Shipping time can stretch to two weeks if we get a lot of orders.
