Default Build Date

Is there a web site or some other way to determine the build date of a '69 from the serial number?

That's some good info, except, I can't find my build tag. Must have been removed by bubba!

Try this link. It is a birthday calculator, just enter your VIN
http://www.ncrswi.bizland.com/wi_ncrs/bdaycalc.htm
Sorry, just realized that it won't work for a 1969 :(

And the worst part is that I believe all of the 69's were built in St. Louis, which the records are "lost" Looks like next step is tank sticker

Default Start here:

The Black Book gives you the last serial # for each month, so that will give you the month your car was built. To narrow it down, give us your last 5 digitals and you can either extrapolate (guess) or maybe someone with a nearby vin and a trim tag will chime in. :) MJ

No trim tag - so you'll be guessing.
As MNJack says, you can look in books for the open/close dates on the
build sequences and extrapolate your birthday from this. When I first did this,
I was off by about a week. Then I tried the NCRS calculator and it gave a
date that turned out to be two days before the trim tag date. The trim tag
date is estimated to be 2-3 days before 'birth'.

I had a nice long thread on this with all the calculator links and other
experience chiming in, but I can't find it in the archives. Too old, I guess ?

Another avenue is to look into a 69 registry. Enrolling in a registry may
enable access to more data, and you might be able to cotact someone with a
vin # very close to yours. This may be your best bet.

Just to be sure :) that you know. The trim tag on your car is a relatively large 3 x 4 inch metal plate riveted into the top front of the drivers side door jamb. Often times, when/if the car is repainted, this tag is painted over and it just might not be apparent that it's there. If you give us your VIN, we can figure out "roughly" when your car was built. My trim tag reads "O10". My vin is 32129. Rigt in the middle of the Oct '69 build month. Hope That will help. My door jamb area has never been repainted so the trim tag and door stickers are perfect. I have lots of August and Sept'69 parts on the car.
