Mystery Vaccum port on Quadrajet '74 BB
Where does this connect to? It is a '74 Quadrajet, and from the numbers, looks to be from a '73 manual, or at least manufactured in '73. Mine is a '74 BB Automatic. Number on carb is 7044505 BP 3073.
And, a close-up.
Thanks,
David

Re: Mystery Vaccum port on Quadrajet '74 BB (trw)
Mine was hooked up on top left (passenger side), I moved it to this point, and it seems to run much better. Now, wonder what goes top left?
I've got 7 vaccum connections, and only 6 vaccum hoses, I took a photo before I took the carb off, but now, of course, I can't find it!
Now, I have the vaccum advance on the side, the top left is empty, the left middle is the vacum valve for the choke (? the canister on the carb), bottom left is the EGR (through an F connection on the thermostat housing), center is the PCV, top right is the Air Canister (below the master cylender), bottom right is the Smog Pump.
I haven't been able to find a good reference, none of my manuals go into the vaccum connections too deeply.
Any advice/references are appricated.
I tried searching the archives for "quadrajet vaccum", and came up with nothing.
Can someone help?
Thanks!
David

O.K. ours should be very similar. Drivers side is Left. Passenger side is Right
Top Right - mine is a "T" with one hose to the choke and the other to the smog pump. My pump is upper right
Right Bottom - goes to straight to EGR - I have no connections on my thermo housing
Middle Bottom - To PCV valve
Left Bottom - To charcoal cannister
Right Side - To distributor
Back to Brake booster.
That's my seven vacuum hose connections

that port is used if have a closed style air cleaner to operate the thermo valve that let heat from the exhaust manifold till the engine is up to temp and then switches to outside cold air for more performance. :chevy
