Default Finally going back to work on the RT project.......

After sitting in all the cold days this winter, I finally have heat in the garage!  I ran the pipe and installed a natural gas heater this morning and it's currently 72 degrees in there. :D

Glad to see ya back on the forum Dave. :yesnod:

72 degrees---yikes! You better go put on the Bermuda's.

I got a kerosene heater and it's maybe 50degrees with the leaky garage doors.

What a great idea, heat in the garage ! My own garage is so drafty with no insulation that it's a lost cause with the 20* outside temps fighting my kerosene heater  .

This is a post many of us have been waiting to see from our ole pal RT :yesnod: . Take your time so you can enjoy yourself while your out there Dave. We anxiously await the day you & RT go for a :steering: CRUUUZZZ :) .

Stay well friend  .

Is that the same car you have had a while or is it the new one you were looking for?

Dave,
Can you post pics of the heater? Isn't it dangerous to use in there? I'd be worried about having one with flammables in the garage.

Thanks Mike, glad to be back. So did the new block come in yet?

Chris - This is the same ole car that been a major dust collector for a while. I still have the 95 convert too, so I think that's enough for now.

Steve - Good point. I don't have a picture at the moment, but the heater is a wall mount SunStar, 30,000 btu natural gas unit. The only visible flame is the pilot light. It has 5 ceramic plates across the front of it for radiant heat and the a blower that takes heat off the unit from the top. Used as it was designed for, it should be safe. I will extinquish the pilot if I'm using anything that would create a hazard.

That heater should work great. I am using one of them in the shop and it works flawlessly. My shop is insulated and finished on the inside, and even when it gets below -0F it still stays warm in there. Nice to have a warm place to work year round. :yesnod:

Dalannex - Man you need heat worse in SD than I do, Brrrrrrrrr

Jay - I haven't posted much but I've tried to keep up by lurking. Awesome stuff you're doing to that Vette of yours!

Thanks Terry, I just hope that when I do get it done it'll be nearly as good as the dream behind it. :)

Dave, if you want the long hood, I'd just order it & sell the one you already have. That'll save you a lot of work and won't cost you the whole amount. We want to see some pics of you driving your dream, so enough with taking the hard way  ,but those Torque D's sure do look nice ;) .

ps, yes the block arrived :D.

Mike - The more I think about it, the more I'm convinced you're right. Guess I better start shopping for a new hood. Don't those D's look cool?

Alright Mike, you talked me into it. I ordered the long L-88 hood today, and the wiper arm cover. It'll be sort of different and neat to have something I can just bolt on!

Keep us informed on you engine build. Hello to Amy and youngins'.
