Default Impending coil failure?

Is there any way to tell if a coil is going bad?

My tach jumps around on occasion -- although I've heard it could be a bad tach circuit board, I've also heard the words "bad coil" being bandied about, too...

Default Re: Impending coil failure? (page62)

The coil is probably fine....it's most likely the tach filter....that black round ting inline with the tach wiring to the distributor.....it should be there,...if not, the tach jumps around....do the forum search, and build according to direction posted many time before....abut a 90% cure rate....
