Default Transmission problems

I have some transmission problems that I'm not really sure are problems (I don't know anything about auto tranny's). Flooring it shoots the engine to around 3500 rpm, and it stays there while accelerating. Is this normal? Is my torque converter not setup for street use?

Also, third and fourth gears feel much weaker than I think they should. 4th is completely useless, and 3rd feels much less than 2/3 the torque of 2nd. Is there something to check for that's a little more accurate than general feeling?

Third problem: It shifts really early. Leaving it to its own, it shifts to 4th by ~30 mph with my 3.08 rear:(. So I always manually shift it.

Have you checked your fluid level (make sure it's in drive)? Almost sounds like a bad valve body.

If your 700 isn't already on its last few miles, adjust your TV cable while there's still life in the trans.

Yeah, I was going to check that, but the engine overheated too today, so I'm going to wait until morning to see what's wrong  .
