Is anyone using this Holley air cleaner?
If so, does it flow well? Is there a K&N filter for it? I came across it on the Holley website, and it looks like an alternative to a high rise (L-88)hood to cover a high rise intake..........any thoughts on it?

I think it looks cool too, it is polished aluminum. I wonder if it flows well though...........

That's one I was thinking about using a while back. It's very pricey though, >$200!
I saw one on a street rod last summer and didn't think it was worth the $200.
I opted out for the L-88 hood. :D

Well, first I thought $200 was a lot to spend for an air cleaner. The one on the street rod might have been one that was in use for a while..it just turned me around. It'd probably work in your instance but I just couldn't justify the $$. :chevy

You are right, $200 is a lot for an air cleaner, but stacked against the cost of a new hood, and the cost of painting that hood, the $200 air cleaner seems a bargain to be able to use the original hood! Was it ugly, or did it look stupid?

I found one on e-bay and got it for half the list price, and it's brand new !!! It's got the blue super flow holley filters on it that are supposed to be just like K & N filters. I'm customizing my hood so it will fit because of the high rise intake. Rick :chevy

That sounds like a great deal! Did it come with those filters, or did you change them? Does this air cleaner flow enough for a hi-po engine? Also, why are you customizing your hood for it? It looks like a super-low profile air cleaner that would fit under a stock hood.

Okay, now I have at least seen it in a vette engine bay, and it does look cool. My thoughts about using the stock small block hood with this cleaner are gone now because if you had to do work on your bb hood for it to fit, then it will never fit under mine.......unless there is something else I am missing.

Re: Is anyone using this Holley air cleaner? (7t2vette)
Bruce ------ the reason I'm customizing my hood is two-fold, I want something different (dual ram air) and the fact with the Edelbrock Air Gap RPM manifold and the Edelbrock Carb -------- it is pretty tall !!! I have 2 aftermarket hoods, the first is 1 1/2 inches over stock and the second is 2 1/2 inches over stock with a hole already cut (got it on e-bay) and it's still not tall enough ! I've got to fit the hood with the cleaner, but without --it was about 1 1/2 inches from the carb top to the hood (the tall one !). the cleaner is pretty wide also, so we'll see how she fits from side to side !

I grinded the air cleaner neck about 3/4 of an inch ,no mod. on the hood but it better if got the L88 hood (personaly I don't like l88 hood for now) with the bb hood I don't have much clearance for any more engine modification. 1/4 inch from hood to air cleaner and 1 inch from air cleaner to valve cover.
