A Z28 even Dep will Like!
My buddy Dep loves to discuss the merits of any car interest to the limit. I guess we all have a different saturation point. Is it possible that this is how my wife feels when I try to interest her in the merits of a new Hydrosolator for the 69? Naaa! I think the owner of this car had my taste in mind!
Happy New Year to you all, including Dep

That car's a beauty, Chuck. I hate riding in first gen f-bodies. After riding around in the Firebird last night, I almost developed a respect for it. They really are fun little cars, even if they're underengineered next to our Corvettes.
Ya gotta help me Chuck, I couldn't have been bitten by the f-body bug, could I?
Beautiful Z/28, btw.
*edit* Forgot to mention one of my grievances with it, though. Why use the original block? Makes very little sense to me. I would have shelved the old motor and built up a fresh block from stock, maybe even gone with something a little crazier. No way I'd let the original 302 get run around like that, though. I'm sure he has all the parts shelved, but what happens if a push rod is ejected through the side of the block as happened to my L-48?

I had the Z-28's sister back then. A '67 Formula 400, 330HP, tach in the hood. I loved that car.

 My brother in law has an orange one with white stripes. Has the original 302 in storage. Now has a 421 small block with 600 HP. Much more fun than the 302. The 302 was fun but nothing like a 421.

First-Gen F-bodies are fun to work on, have great bang for the buck and cost a HELL of a lot less to restore/mod than a Vette. I could do the entire interior on my Camaro for what it cost me to do the seats on the Vette.
Who's Firebird did you ride around in?

I rode in a friend's. 68 400, mostly stock (headers + 2.5" duals + flows).

That's exactly why I hate riding in them. :) His car is fun, quick in a straight line, and makes me kind of think of buying one. They're obstacles to getting another 'vette, though.

Short of the vette, the 2 next cars on the wish list are a 68 firebird 400 vert, or a 68/69 vert camaro.
Sweet car! Thanks Chuck.

Great car! I had a '69 Firebird Conv. with the 350HO, hood tach, with the 4 speed, Hurst shift, rally interior package and totally stock. Hopefully, it's still running around somewhere. These 1st gen cars were a lot of fun!! While I love my Vette, if I had extra cash and room in the garage, I'd look for a '67 to '69 Camaro or 'bird!

Re: A Z28 even Dep will Like! (Chuck Harmon)
Yesterday coming home from a park in Houston, driving on the SWFreeway I heard this loud noise on the drivers side that I thought was a Harley or three coming up. Turned out to be the best darned looking Cobra kit car I have ever seen. Much wider. Large rear tires even Merlin would like. Side pipes, etc. We ended up side by side at a light. Hard to hear him describe the motor, but it started out as a 302 the (this is the part I could not hear) had been changed to a 306. Asked how much HP - said 435! Out of a 306. He only slightly got on it when light changed and I instantly fell in love and sad that I will never have one of those. Unbelievable. Nothing like a tightly wound small block - really small.
