Re: Installing an XM antenna? (77BlueL82)
XM antennas can be mounted anywhere under the fiberglass, the signal easily passes through the 'glass. Mine (71) is mounted to the frame under the existing antenna so the cable can pass through the antenna grommet. The receiver is mounted in the jack storage compartment, and connected to the factory radio with an FM modulator.

You will love the XM. I have had it in my Avalanche for the last 4 months and I haven`t listened to FM since. It just doesn`t compare. XM sounds like a CD it is so clear. No static, period.

I have been somewhat debating this for awhile myself. Do you all have the fixed one or can you trade it between cars? For me its a choice between this or perhaps an iPod (or other hard disk mp3 player). But I just don't drive the Vette enough to justify a monthly fee which is why I was wondering if its possible to move the service between cars.
<sigh> I don't listen to the radio in the Vette much anyway! ;)

Delphi sells a nice little unit you can tote from your car to your home (or to another car). That makes it a little more appealing!

Are you going to buy the iPod FM sending unit or plug directly into your head unit or amp?

Cappy, you're just too damn funny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hope someone answers Tonto's question!
For those of us who drive our vettes less than year around, and on a 'pleasure cruise'basis, an MP3 player would seem to make more sense to me.

Though it would be nice to have the iPod connected directly, I'd probably just get a FM sending unit. They sell them at Frys for like $20-$30. My friend has one in his S2000 and it works pretty well. He can even lock the iPod up in his glovebox and it sends fine from there. Guess that means we could probably lock it in the box behind our seats and it would still transmit fine. . . .

John,
Nope.....
I checked with the local Circuit City and they have the equipment, however the service to Hawaii will be years in the future...We still have 8 track technology here......We are so far in the past we have light pumped in by oil freighters......I wished they'd hurry up....really sucks rubbing two sticks together to have a BBQ.... :D :seeya Cappy

Cappy,
I have to ask this. What is the weather like in Hawaii? Some things are better then technology.
Tim M.
P.S. It is 40 degrees here and raining.

Re: Installing an XM antenna? (still-learning)
Cappystill learning,
You're right :iagree: Shame on me.
The weather is sunny 85 degrees.....My wife just ordered me back into the cave for a solid whack with the tribal club.
The tribe keeps it on the cave wall for times when I step out of line. My head is covered with lumps. :D :seeya
