Wipers gone mad
Not that I drive in the rain (not that it generally rains here anyway) but....
Door comes up with overide under steering wheel, but no wiper movement or activity when the switch is used.
This should mean vacuum is OK and my problem is electrical...Correct??!??

Assuming the door will ALSO pop up when switch is on....then you may have just ONE problem...the door activates a main power switch just to pass side of distributor...on firewall, plunger hitting red button....you MUST have 12 volts at the RED heavy wire leading into the wiper motor...if NOT that switch may not be activated....adjustment...OR you have a fuse link problem...
OR is the door does not open with wiper swtich in car...you most likely have a bad solenoid which opens and activates the vacuum source...that soleniod is on the back side of the tach....
do a forum search here in this site...it's all well explained....

OK, but even with override switch opening the door for you, you STILL have NO wipers??? DID you check the FUSE...under dash??? 25 amp as I recall...it feeds the yellow wires to the wiper motor...there are TWO 12= volt circuits in this system...main motor power, which is the RED wire to the motor...and of course the 12 volt to the YELLOW wires...at motor in two spots, , and the solenoid mentioned above...behind tach....
IF that fuse if blown....that wold also cause your problem...maybe....
pretty sure...

Re: Wipers gone mad (mrvette)
To the point and exactly what I need. Thanks Gene. Gonna start with the fuses and check power at the wires, then mess with the solenoid.
Happy New Year's day to me!!
