I found a car that I am really intrested in however, it is Michigan and I am in GA. How would I go about getting it inspected? Does someone live up there that wants to look at a vette or would an inspection company be the way to go? I still new at this buying a classic thing. I am old school, find one around where you live. These cars are just so hard to find in great shape that you really have to willing to look anywhere. Thanks for any help.

There's a few guys around here from Royal Oak. Did you try posting something to the Great Lakes forum? That'll get some attention. If worse comes to worse, I could take a look for you, but I'll be busy after New Year's. I'm sure someone can take a look and send you a report with some pictures. If nobody else volunteers, let me know.
Edit: Forgot to say that I'm about a half hour away from Royal Oak. BTW, did you know that the Woodward Dream Cruise goes right thru Royal Oak?

You could try hiring a qualified Appraiser if all else fails.

Royal Oak...hmmm...a bit across town from me. We've got CF people in that area though. Want to provide some details on the car and what it is you're looking to find out? What do you know, what don't you know, what do you need to find out, etc....

You could try using the member locater to send e-mails to all the members in that area. One of them might do it. Could be the owner of the car is a forum member as well? If the report on the car comes back good, I would still pop for a plane ticket to go look yourself though.

I have no problem driving down there to scope it out. But if things get serious than I would take the car and get it up on a hoist to get it really checked out. What year car are you looking at ?

Hey Guys,

Thank you all for the help. I am trying to get in touch with the guy today but today being a holiday is a pain. Anyway the car is a 72 vert, SC gray 4-speed. The guy wants 15000.
I getting frustrated finding cars. I check all the usal places daily and it seems that when I find one I call that day it is posted and when I get someone on the phone "it is sold". The last three cars I have called about have been sold the day they are posted. I know patience pays off and that right car is out there. I hope this car in MI is not sold yet. It was posted yesterday and I called first thing yesterday morning and then again this morning. I just waiting for the guy to call me back to talk about it. It seems to be his place of business so he is probably closed today.

Sounds like a nice car, especially if he's asking 15k. Let us know what you hear back from him and we'll somehow get you covered. :yesnod:

Hey guys,

Talked to the guy today it sounds like the car is all original and does not need any work. He said the only thing that might need attention would be where there was a 3" seem coming loose on the plastic window to the soft top. If one of you guys are still willing to check it out for me let me know (tmcadams@lucent.com or treshamc@msn.com) and a time to call you to talk about it. He said the soonest someone could look at it would be mon. He is going out of town and will not be available until monday. He also said that it would be ok to drive if I wanted. I talked him into hopefully giving me first dibs at the car if I can get it look at. He said two other guys called him but he said they sounded like dealers and were real "jerks" on the phone.

Anyway if some still does not mind giving it a once over let me know.

Not available until Monday? :( I'll be heading out of town Monday morning, so I won't be able to take a look. I'm sure someone will be able to though.
