I just put Super Comp Hookers w/side mounts on my '74 BB. Sounds NICE!!! With 2 7/8" on each cyl, I don't worry about how exhaust is getting out.

One suggestion, put the headders in BEFORE the engine. The clearance is TIGHT (read, less than 1/16".)

Going with stock BB exhaust manifolds will cost you 30-60HP depending on the tune/build of your BB. I'll be using Hooker Super Comps & a chambered exhaust.

Intake GM P/N 3933198 Single 4 BBl will make serious poer for you I would also go with a LS6 or L88 cam...with Stock manifolds about 500HP or better....expect 585 hp with headers if all other things are done correctly :steering:

As far as headers i have the 1 7/8 supercomps, these seem to fit better then the larger 2" versions which sometimes have some clearance issues. As far as intakes goes, are you running oval port or rectangular port heads and I'm guessing you have the stock BB hood?. With an oval port and the stock hood your choices in aluminum would be a 68-69 L-36 intake (4bbL quad, what I run), L-68 (3x2) or torker2 (4bbl, square pattern). Rectangular port you have the LS-6 (4bbl, square) or L-71 (3x2) intakes. As you can see there's not a whole lot available that will fit without going to an L-88 hood where the possibilities open up quite a bit.
