longer fork to z-bar clutch rod?

If you have to lengthen the clutch rod then you have the wrong pressure plate/throw out bearing/pivot stud combination. To correct the problem you need either a longer throw out bearing or a longer ball stud to keep the clutch fork in proper geometry. If you just lenghten the rod you could end up with the fork hitting the pressure plate.

the trany got a gear oil change and a shifter rebuild too...so, needless to say...a new clutch was added as well...
as you know, one of the last things to be hooked up was the clutch z-bar and linkage...
well...upon installation of the linkage i was very disapointed to find that the adjustment ended up being all the way to the end of the treaded rod...
the thing is...the clutch works perfectly...flawlessly in every aspect...
so...i am not crazy about pulling it apart to replace it...
i asked about it here not too long ago and a few guys told me that they had this happen to them too and that they bought a longer z-bar to fork rod...

Hi Signguy:
I installed a new clutch in my car a couple of years ago and during the adjustment phase ran out of adjustment. After numerous tranny and clutch removals went to auto parts store and got another brand of clutch cover, low and behold no adjustment problem. The parts guy told me he had heard of small differances in clutch covers between manufactures, this small differance must cause the problem in adjustment when dealing with a Corvette installation. The second clutch cover I put in was manufactured by Sachs.
Good Luck
