I have gotten up to a 245/70 in a rear shark carrier. I had to let the two rear bolts that hold the bottom down a bit and put lock nuts on them to assure they wouldn't vibrate out. A 225/70 should fit fine without doing this.

The original spare was a F70 15 on a 15 by 8 rim, which equates to about a 215 70 15. I would try to have a spare that is the same size as the tires you are running on the car. This would take into consideration a flat on one of your rear tires, where the same size tires would not put stress on your posi unit.
