Saw a awsome 73' today on I-95...
Saw a awsome 73' today on I-95 in Miami. I wonder if it was a forum member???
This Vette looked AWSOME!!! The paint seemed to be new. It was a very beautiful yellow (not the standard yellow). Other than the paint - the Vette looked pretty much stock... I was not in my Vette - so I didin't wave - but I gave the guy a   and he waved back!!

Re: Saw a awsome 73' today on I-95... (GrandSportC3)
If it was in bright sunlight when you saw it, it was probably yellow mettalic, I've got some pics of mine on the other compute where it's about a shade more yellow then my current sig pic, then I have other pics where it's way more gold, it varies with the light a lot. If you see that color you always know it's a 73 unless it's changed color becouse they only made this color in 73. If you ran across it again get some pics, would love to see it. I found my old sig pic, see above.

Mine's metallic yellow, but I wasn't in Florida and the car is on blocks awaiting new trailing arms and TPI :D:D
But... my car was repainted the original metallic yellow several years before I bought it. There is definitely a difference between the original metallic yellow and the color on my car. There is a much higher metallic component which really changes the appearance in different lighting conditions. It goes from a bright yellow to a mustard and burnt orange then to copper in fluorescent light.

The early 70's (I think 71 and 72 but not sure about 70) had War Bonnet Yellow and it changes color appearance with ambient light also. I think all GM did for 73 is change the name of the paint (what is the trim code for 73 Metallic Yellow?) because when I see a 73 in that color the first thing I think is "Cool another WBY Vette". I am partial to WBY as depicted in below signature :yesnod: :yesnod:

It's not always so easy to say "That's a 73".
My 70+75 will always be mistaken for a 73 - when I'm done.
Very subtle hints will give it away - like the front fender to hood line that
went from straight (73-74) to 'bumped' in the middle in 75.
Pop-out rear window (70). Sure you can put one in a 73 - but I don't need to.
Anyway - WBY - awesome. It sounds almost like Olivier is describing
the sunflower yellow of the 80 era.
