Silly question of the day
I am looking at the GM performance bare block 350 and it says it comes without oil galleys and dowels.
What is an oil galley?

Re: Silly question of the day (Twin_Turbo)
perhaps they mean oil gallery plugs? Dowels are those "pins"in the deck to locate the cylinder head.

Re: Silly question of the day ('79ProwlerOrange)
the reason for the dowel isn't just to keep the head from falling off when unbolting. The dowel locates the heat "properly" over the deck. The "proper" location however isn't always as accurate from the factory. If you look at a head bolted on from the underside you may see that not all the chambers arepositioned properly over the bore due to coreshift or other errors. For this you can buy offset dowels.
