Default XE262H cam

I am about to buy a Comp XE262H-10 cam and was wondering if anyone has installed this cam and had any trouble with valve to piston clearance. The lift is 462/.469. The Comp techs said they have never heard of a problem but I wanted to check with the real world. If you have this cam, how do you like it?
Thanks for any help

I have the 268XE with more lift, and don't have any problems at all.

As cams go, the XE262 is relatively mild. But IMHO, it's an absolutely awesome cam for street use - HUGE gobs of torque in the low rpms, and hangs in there until 5500. I can count the number of times I've exceeded 5500 rpm on the street with one finger.

:iagree:

Just judging from the number of posts I've seen....I would guess this is by far the most common non factory small block cam on this forum! Many other good cams including Crane etc. out there, but this one seems to be the most popular, for the reasons already mentioned. Haven't heard of any clearance problems. Just make sure you buy matching valve springs. The one downside of the XE series is that you can't use stock springs with it. No biggie though!

XE262 cam is a mild cam, but the gobs of torque is really well suited to the 700r4 conversion i did. i have the the stock lifters with milled heads, no problems, about 4-5k on engine rebuild.

Jetec, Good reading in SuperChevy magazine, as they are doing a buildup of a modified 350 chevy & utilized the XE262 & XE 268 ,with dyno results of both cams, the tourque peak of the XE262 is 440 ft lbs at 4600 rpm & HP of 415 at 5600 rpm, the XE 268 is 439 ft lbs tourque & 427 HP at 5800 rpm, I am in process :smash: of installing the XE 262 in my 427,as am am running 3.08 rear gears ,no headers , so tourque is important to me........with the L36 stock cam best ET 13.7 @ 102 MPH..cant wait for oldies day at the drags next year...good luck with your project, the XE262 is a great cam for the rpm range of a street driver.... :seeya

This is no big deal, just buy the 262XE complete "K" cam kit, it comes with the cam, lifters, timing chain, and matched valve springs, and all the other bits and pieces you need. The part number for this package from Jeg's is 249-K12-238-2
