Mor-tec has that casting listed as a 427 Tall deck, 4 bolt with a production range on 1977-1990. I think you'd want to stay away from the tall deck blocks. On a tall deck block, the intake and heads are about 1 inch taller than a standard height BB. Other than that you can probably use any BB. :chevy

Unless I can see and hear it running, or I personally knew and trusted the seller, I wouldn't buy a used engine. I know people that have bought good engines on Ebay but I also know guys that have bought engines and other parts that weren't worth the cost to ship them. If this is a tall deck block, the only good news is that it can accommodate a longer stroke than a standard block. The bad news is, as 1979 Stringray posted, it is taller and wider than a standard block, As a result, replacement intake manifolds are more expensive, and clearance issues are greater. I believe those truck engines also had "peanut port" heads, named so because they were so restrictive.
