Default Anyone running a roll bar in their convertible?

Every C3 I see here that has a roll bar is a coupe. ANyone have one in a convertible? I'm wondering how I'm going to run one without having it go through my convertible lid.

I'm planning to install a rollbar also. I have found a couple of web sites claiming to offer rollbars that will fit under a vert top. I have also spoken with a vette resto shop that said they could custom fab one without cutting the rear deck. Do you have a resto shop or hotrod shop near by that could custom fab one for you?

Kirk Racing in Alabama makes an SCCA- approved bar that fits under the soft top, the hard top and does not require cutting the lid. I have had one in my '72 for some time now. Really improves overall stiffness as well.

I do have a local shop that can make one given the dimentions, but I'm trying to find one with the proper NHRA/SCCA specs that is already built.

Looks like their site is down, I'll give them a call.

Thanks

I think a single-hoop chromed roll-bar (e.g. Cobra) would look great in a vert.

Does anyone remember(or know) what ET's at the drag strip that it is required to have a roll bar for a convertible with a soft top? As far as I can remember anyone running 12.99 & under is required to have a safety helmet. There's a bunch of verts(Mopar, Vette, Camaro) running the NHRA circuit with only soft tops and they are easily into the 11's if not further down. I know they have roll bars. Plans are to put this car in the high 12's and planning on trailering it, just in case things go wrong.

I have the '03 NHRA rule book in front of me it states from 12.00-13.99 roll bar(at least 4pt) for convertibles is requiried. 11.99 and faster ALL cars must hav a 6pt cage.

Thanks Corey...

Appears I will be off to some Houston based hotrod fab shop before this is over with as I like the soft top and have no plans on buying a hard top.
