Wiper door question
Trying to fix wiper door. If I reverse the hoses that go into the big cannister mounted to the firewall the door will stay up all the time. If I leave them as shown in diagrams it will stay down all the time. Headlights work fine either way, and wipers work if the door is up. Any suggestions on what might be wrong?
Thanks in advance

Re: Wiper door question (telk)
Sounds like the acuator that runs the wiper door my be bad.
When vacuum is applied to that acuator it pulls a little spring loaded valve to the position where vacuum is directed to the hose on the front of the canister which keeps the wiper door closed. If that valve is not working it is probably directing vacuum to the rear of the canister (firewall side) thus opening the door. Put a vacuum gauge on the top tiny port of the acuator and see if it holds vacuum.

The one near the wiper arm is just an interlock. It lets the system know that the wipers are at rest and it is safe to let the wiper door close. I guess it is possible to have the hoses connected wrong though.

Try swapping the top and bottom hoses on the interlock switch(pass side under wiper arm). Leave the middle one alone. One is a vent (so there may not be a hose there but swap with the other end anyway) and I think these symtoms will occur if the hoses are swapped.
