Today two Mormon missionarys knocked on my door.
They wanted to know if they could take some pictures with my vette. They said they always see me working on it and they are both into cars, so they just wanted to take a few pics with the car to remember their mission by. Thought it was kinda cool.

Ok.. More exciting story... I opened the door, they asked, I told them NO, I have to finish deboning the cat I am using to make my magic powder for my spells and then I spit on them and slammed the door in their faces. JUST KIDDING.
I needed a change... I don't have an orange vette, but, until there is a black 69 vert with funky bodywork and a gold stripe avatar, I will have to keep switching when a new one comes out. Or, I can wait a few more hundred years until I reach 10K posts. I dont live in AZ either and that was my last one. Aren't they going to grandfather people in again after 2 years or something?

Re: Today two Mormon missionarys knocked on my door. (Maurice)
Summer of '71, I was 18 and had been out all weekend at the lake partying. Came home Monday morning and was asleep on the couch with nothing on but a pair of cutoff jeans.
That afternoon a knock at the door.............I got up and opened it, still half a sleep, maybe even still a little ..............There was the most beatiful girl I had ever seen, Tall with long blonde hair and one of those Gunny Sack print dresses on. No need for make up, she was perfect!!!!!!
YES! My eyes rolled up and my breath was gone! Then she spoke to me and I couldn't believe it! She asked me" Do you believe in free sex? I answered YES! Come in!
Then I saw the two guys with her and they were all shaking a newspaper at me. I then caught the title.....THE WATCHTOWER. :nono:
I don't think I gave the correct answer, and She didn't come in either...............True Story, JIM

More than once while working under the car in the garage two pair of black leather shoes have appeared, usually in the morning hours. Either Mormons or JW's every time. A couple times I have even engaged them in lengthy Biblical discussions while still under the car. Kinda of like bench racing Chevy vs. Ford only with more important, shall we say eternal, consequences. Always makes for an interesting morning.

I've got several friends that are Mormons, and uniformly I have to say that of all the religous groups that I have been exposed to or approached by, the Mormons are the least pushy and least self rightous of the bunch. I've never met a Mormon who was a real jerk, most are really nice people.
The missionaries usually come through my neighborhood in the heat of Summer, and I always invite them in and give them a cold glass of water. I let them know right off that I'm not at all interested in converting, but they are welcome to stop by anytime I'm home to visit and cool off.

i think " the watchtower" is a jehovah's witness pamphlet. anyway, 40 miles north of here in Nauvoo,Il, the Mormons rebuilt their temple from the 1840's and had the dedication last June. very impressive building, it was open to the public for about a month, then they stripped the insides, because of all the "unclean" & unbelievers who had passed thru the building. when i heard of this plan, i canceled my plan to see the inside of the temple. a previous post said that the Mormons were decent and not self-righteous. this is true for the most part, but like most religions they are self-righteous and judge people, when it is not their position to judge. i'm just as "clean" as any Mormon. on several visits to Nauvoo for Easter, Mother's Day, birthdays etc.(they have an excellent buffet at the old Hotel Nauvoo) i chatted with Mormon elders as the temple was being built and they were very nice. however, one elder would start "digging and cutting" on you the longer you talked to him. I was raised Catholic, but really follow no set religion, i'm a christian, i have a few simple beliefs, and don't need nobody between me and God. wow this got to deep! cya!

I just believe in the Church of Chevy! I live my life in the image of the Father of Big Blocks, the Son of Aluminum Small-Blocks and the Holy Fuel/Air mixture Spirit.
Any discussions about religion is just a really bad idea on this or any forum. I, as well as all of you, have my feelings and biases.
We all believe in different things, except the one great common ground: our love for Corvettes.
And I know that when my foot is planted to the floor in my Vettes, it's a religious experience in its own right!

Maurice and Smokehouse - your kindness and non-judgemental attitudes will not go unrewarded. I guess Mormons are allowed to have Corvettes. I have one. Raised Methodist - minister's daughter - converted 26 years ago. Feel free to send any questions or have misconceptions clarified. We're just real people too, like the rest of you.
