A few more heater/heater fan questions... anyone got vac diagram?
I'm going to try what Ganey told me today... assuming I can find the hose.
Last night, I took the car out and the heater was only working intermittently. When I gave the car hard throttle, the heater came on in force, so I'm pretty sure it's a vacuum issue. It will go from toasty to nice frosty ambient air in no time flat.
Another problem is that my fan only runs on max speed, what do I do to fix this?
Also, does anyone have a diagram of where all the various heater vac hoses go?

Sounds like your vacuum hose coming off the firewall is connected to a ported vacuum supply on the carb. try connecting it to a port that has direct vacuum.

Ok, where are these hoses at? Any idea where I could go for pictures or a diagram? I have no clue where to begin...

This may help. There are several more diagrams if needed.

On the fan speed, you need a new resistor block. It is just "Chevrolet." Very common part.

Thanks Paul. I'm trying to get my bearings on the diagram now -- the water shut off valve is next to the passenger exhaust manifold, right?
It looks like I need to pull the dash back to get this job done... am I correct in assuming so? Where's the vac source for the heater at?

This is the heater control valve, right where you stated. I need more time on the vacuum source question.

TTT- still not sure how to replace these hoses.
Does the dash come out? Where's the typical source?
Thanks in advance...
-Steve(Mucho thanks to Paul for the diagram. I'm starting to get a good picture of everything...)

I have an excellent vacuum diagram on this pages. Shows the route and where the various pieces are located.
