How is 0-65 in 5 sec?
I just finished building this new motor for my car in august, but i never once timed any runs i've had in it. I have been trying to get my carb dialed in right and i think i found a good combination. :)
Anyways, what kind of power do you think i'm making? any 1/4 mile predictions? Ran from dead stop, 1800rpm launch to 100 mph, at 5 seconds it was at 65mph. Here is the specs on the motor:
350 (STD Bore)
GM 041 Ported/Polished Heads
Comp XE268 Cam
Crane Energizer Roller Rockers
Hypereutectic Flatops ~9.8:1CR
Edelbrock Performer EPS Intake
Edelbrock Performer 1406 600cfm carburetor
Stock Ignition with LARS kit (getting Crane-Hi6 for christmas)
Tranny is a TH400 power sucker
3.70 rear end.
I'm putting a 100hp N20 kit on it a couple months, any 1/4 predictions?
There are two new tracks opening this summer here!
Thanks for reading, sorry about the rambling, I haven't gotten to drive it in about a month (snow)...so i'm still revved up :D
[edit] I re-ran my 0-60's and i must of been doing something wrong on the above time :) All my 0-60's came in at 5.5-5.7s. Is this still pretty respectible? Can i get into the 13's on motor? So i'm assuming my 0-65 is more along the lines of 6.0-6.3s? This cam doesn't really like the 1600-1700rpm stall i have right now, so i think i could get those down a tenth or two if i had a better launch, also traction isn't perfect. How much of an effect will the 100hp N20 kit have?

I think your being a tad bit optimistic in your 5 second 0 - 65 time. The combination that your listing is nothing really out of the ordinary to warrant going that fast. Can I safely assume that the 3.70 rear is not the stock ratio that came in the car? If it isn't did you recalibrate the speedo to match the new gearing?
Just took notice you also went from a 15" to a 17" wheel that will also effect your speedometer, but depends upon the tire size selected.

Very respectable.
You should run mid to hi 12's in the quarter, if indeed you are doing 65 within 5 seconds.

70PurpleLS7 Thanks for the input, i agree with you on the point that it seems unrealistic, I am going to go back out and make a few more runs and make sure there wasn't too much error on my part. The speedo is adjusted to the gears, and it reads within 2 mph of actual speed. (verified rather cruedly, but cosistent.) That is one hell of a motor you have there . I have been quite suprised at how this motor has been running, I did not expect it to be as quick as it is. I raced a friend of mine in his '69 427 (rebuilt/headers/4-speed) from 0-100, I had over 2 car lengths on him by the end. We were both pretty d*mn suprised. He wasn't out of tune, and didn't miss any gears. One of the two tracks they are building will be open this spring, so i will for sure be able to verify how fast it really is/or isn't in a few months. I expect to run around a mid 13, hopefully dip into the 12's with the N20. Thanks for your input, I'm going to go out now and do some more runs.
71,454,4spd I don't think i'll pull those numbers off on just motor. Your car seems to be running pretty strong! :D I'll be back after a couple hours of some lead-foot activities.
