OT Is the Forum seem slow to you????:-(
I have noticed since the software upgrade that some posts just take forever to load but others come up really fast. I am surfing at work on our T1 line and it still happens. Anyone also experiencing this or is it just me. Sorry about posting this here but this is the only forum (C3 section) that I go to.
Just Wondering

It seems to me that some of the pages load really fast, but some of the others like the main Discussion for C3s doesn`t load nearly as fast. I have a cable modem.

I thought it was just my dial up. Glad to hear it wasn't just me. Misery loves company! The CF DOES seem to load slower in general since the upgrade.

I'm running over 64k ISDN & it's diabollokal (sp!!). The download speed isn't too bad, but when it's finished downloading, my PC then completely halts while it's "Building menu". A complete PITA. It used to be really slick, what gives?
Hi 67 :)
How's life? My sister is currently stranded in Toronto for a couple of days, any ideas on some touristy things to do to while she's there?

Well its not slow anymore (I hope). I just installed my DSL modem at home. After 8 months of cable modem bliss, when I moved to VA the cable company didn't offer internet (I have DirectTV and cannot stand cable TV) and the phone company didn't offer DSL for my phone line. Just the other day my phone company began DSL service to my house   . Now I am back in the high speed game. I was just wondering why the forum was so slow at work this morning going through my companies T1 line...it was weird.

out of all the sites I visit, this is by far the slowest......
takes 1-2 minits to change screens between the hours of 4'm-11pm.....
during the day, it about 30 seconds.....
dial up modem....

I posted a whole list of problems I was having with the forum in the complaint area...
#1 Slow loading of pages. Seems to be worse when there are lots of pictures posted in a thread. Thought it was my dialup, but it seems to affect everyone.
Speed seems somewhat faster today
#2 Buttons for reply and edit, etc. sometimes don't appear at all. Just an empty box where they should be. They work if you can remember what is supposed to be where.
#3 IM is only good for "one-liners". Like "I can't get no respect". Longer than that gets cut off and you have to go into My Profile to read them.
#4 Sometimes the page is so wide you have to use scroll left-right bars to read the whole post. The fix is to exit and reload the page.
#5 My pension check hasn't arrived yet. I figured moderators are wonder workers so they might help me there too :D

Cable modem here... works quite well considering the first two weeks of the new design that didn't work much at all. The only problems I have are when you get into a thread and then all the member pics start downloading into their answers from the ISP's around the world. If one of those ISP's are having problems then you have to wait for that set of pix to error out.
I don't see how anyone could function without DSL, cable or satellite up here. Granted... some of the world doesn't have the opportunities if those services are not available.

I'm dial up and it is slow. But every page has 100 plus items to load.!!!
That takes time. How about changing the format. so the ads stay up and you only load the post.

The Webmaster needs to do some work on this site.
Performance is not as good as it used to be.
It has a distinct clunky quality (i.e. not smooth) and overall is slower
than it used to be.
I suspect the new banners, ad logos and controls are overpowering
the underlying code. A major tune-up is in order.

Re: OT Is the Forum seem slow to you????:-( (LT1driver)
I don't think the problem is due to the download speed. I reconfigured our Router to use 2 ISDN channels & it didn't make any difference. The real problem for me is the "Building menu", it takes ages
67, thanks for the links, I'll pass the info on :seeya
