Corvette ownership is tougher than I though...
Man, I never thought driving a Corvette would be so tough. I can't go ANYWHERE..and I do mean ANYWHERE without SOMEONE asking me something about the Corvette. At every stop light, gas station, driving some one asks something. I'm going to invent something that involves scrolling text on my back window in LED's that gives ANY info about my car...
....but on the other hand, I don't mind the attention...

Yeah, first time I filled it up just after buying it a guy came over and asked me about it.
"How long have you owned it?"
"About 10 minutes."

Man, I just picked it up!!!! :D
That reminds me of a P.T. cruiser that was for sale a while back.
"FOR SALE" "Draws too much attention"
That guy had to see that coming when he bought it....

Aaron...
I can drive for a whole week in this growing town I live in and never see a C-3. Go out to SilverLake and you will find every Mercedes, Beamer & C-5 alive. I can pull out there with this red vert and everyone looks. Enjoy it!

If anyone would have told me that painting my vette this color would have drawn this much attention, i would have said "Duh!" Tons of rubberneckers.;)

I don't care for the attention, to be honest. I am especially tired of every 17 year old daddy's boy revving his rustang gt at me.
I like the conversation with other vette owners, and the waves, and thats about it.

Enjoy, it comes with the territory. I get those gawks and questions too. At a cruise last summer there were three young guys taking pic of my '70. And get this, the L-88 hood was still in primer!!

Yeah, gettin' gas usually draws the usual. Wow! What year is that?
I tried to simplify it with the YOM plates.

I think the worst part is when drivers tend to follow too close to get a better look at your car .

:iagree:
I had that happen on a wey day, the result was that the front of the rusty old Ford Escort messed up mt rear end. His ugly PIAA lights were stuck in my rear bumper. I don't like that kind of attention ;) :D

Funny, I know what you mean though...I don't think I have gone anywhere in mine that SOMEONE hasn't asked me something or at the very least given a thumbs up sign! It seams that a lot of Harley riders give me the thumbs up when they pass. I was pulling out of WalMart the other day and a young boy (about 13) was standing on the sidewalk and when I went by he stared and yelled "Cool Car!".

Exact same thing here. It was late night 11PM or so, and I've been cruising for a while. I was halfway home and had to stop for fuel ... and the guy working the late shift runs out and goes "WOW!"
So I'm chattin' with him and then another customer approaches, striking up more conversation. So these guys are chattin' and I'm dying to get back in and DRIVE!!

Up here around Toronto everyone is too cool to notice, at least they will never let you catch them looking, I do however know they notice.
I have also noticed, in the last couple of weeks when I had the Vette out when it has been cold that alot of cars windows will be rolled down, now they still pretend not to notice but they do like the sound coming from the tailpipes

After you've owned it for a while you'll get paranoid if someone doesn't say something.l You'll look at the car and say "Damn, what's wrong"

Re: Corvette ownership is tougher than I though... (greatgonzoglenn)
I bought my '72 a week and ahalf ago. I drove it 650 miles home. Believe me, I got stopped every time I had to get gas (which was often). The one that really got me was a few days after I got home, one of my neighbors stops by. He has a '78 L82 4-speed with A/C. Conversation went like:
"Saw you drive by, sounds tough."
"Well, it sounds like that because each muffler has a 4" plus hole in it." (the original exhaust with 64k on the odometer).
"Oh, uh, okay. Still sounds tough."
"Thanks."
"It looks pretty nice for an '80."
"Yeah, it should, especially since it's a '72."
I thought he was drunk or something. He certainly drives a vette, but doesn't know anything about them.

I hate when I'm out in one of my daily cars, and I see another guy with a Vette. I can't help but stare, and I know he's thinking "here comes another yahoo with his stupid questions." So I try to keep on the down low, and I get back in my car, and I go away, wishing the whole time, I had my car out, so I could be a part of the crowd.
Oh well.
