Default Grundy's Insurance

I just contacted them for a quote ... tey say that they can't do a 74 or newer Corvette for agreed value ... unless it is a part of a collection. So I asked them to include my daily driver Pontiac and they said it's not worth enough for them to cover! :mad

So I am back to the Drawing Board looking for better insurance. My existing coverage is due for renewal this week!

I recently called Grungy for a quote on my 74, they did quote me a good price, but had low limits($100,000) and it took two calls to get an application. I ending up going with Hagerty, they raised the coverage limits to what I wanted($300,000) and were very freindly. The only negetive is 2500 miles a year max, but that works for me.

http://www.hagerty.com

But for collectors only, no driving to work, must be stored in a locked garage, etc. I have three cars with them. Hard to beat. But that are not for regularly driven cars.

OK then I'm out. Hagerty won't work first, because I have a carport, no garage. And I drive the car to The Dyno Shop to work, a few times a week.

Any other suggestions???? :smash: PLEEEZE :blueangel: :yesnod:

I can sympathize with you, all I have is a carport also. I stayed with my regular insurance company (Farmers) they have a decent collectors policy. No mileage, and you can set the value.

Just don't faint when they quote you the premium...mine is just over $350.00 every 6 months...

Thats bad, but you have keep it insured. Right?

Paul, you should also be aware that American Family will insure your vette on a special coverage form if you have your other auto insurance with them. The car has to be over 20 years old. I have been with them for 3 years..LT

Larry,

Did you insure your '79 through ANPAC? Acoording to their websie the car has to be at least 25 years old. Did they give you a waiver?

American Family- I just dropped them on the vette - why?

Im 34, presently have an absolutley clean record-no tickets-nothing, I have my house, truck, and fiances' car with them and they still quoted me $400+ for 6 months full coverage on my stock 82. They called it a pleasure vehicle policy but it was the same premium as my full coverage 98 S10 ZR2 blazer policy? Actually once I went to insure the vette, they raised my truck policy rates !!!!!!!!!!!

I would rather stay with a company that has no restrictions, but I think a policy like this should fall somewhere between a Hagerty type policy and a full coverage daily policy. American Family could not offer me that, at least from my agent.

Is there a different policy that AM FAM has that can get you there?

Im ready to go to Hagerty and then just take my chances :mad

I think I pay about $200.00 a year for full coverage on my vette. A friend of mine had the same problem with his AM FAM agent, wanted 600 every six months. He checked with another agent and got it for 180 a year. Worth checking in to....LT

Thanks, had a good time there. Vette magazine took a lot of photos of my car there and said it would be in their mag sometime after Feb. Good thing, I just dropped and axe on the passengers door and have a pretty good gouge now. Need to get it fixed.......LT

Apparently there is. Just put your car into the on-line quote with a $15K value and it came back with $276 a year.

I guess I will try AM FAM again and if they cannot find the policy that can get me to the $200 ballpark, then it is a Hagerty type policy.

Thnaks for your help-

San Diego Paul- I hope this is helpful for you too...
