steering wheel lock
Hi All, This is my first post since I got my Vette home. It is a 78 that has been stored since 1988. It has t/t and the steering wheel does not lock. Any ideas? Thanks for any advice, Dave

Re: steering wheel lock (78 Dave)
Lock which way - tilt or telescope?
Go to http://www.bokonon.net/corvettefaq/ and lookup Jim Shea's steering column papers. There's tons of good info there. You may have to do a bit of digging.
(You have to click on "steering" on the left side to get to the T/T papers.)

By not lock, I presume the wheel still turns with key out, and that usually means a pesky little spring on the rear of the lock cylinder, it's a crazy shaped thing, connected to the locking pin....required dis assy of the column to get to it...might try the easy way...spray some WD 40 down the pin...not a whole LOT, just a dab......see if that frees it up....if not...like said before...
