Should I buy this '79
I'm having regret from not buying the '79 earlier for $5500. But yesterday I found a 1979 L82, 4 spd, Optional Rear End Ratio, Corvette Dark Blue & oyster leather, power steering, power windows, power door locks, a/c, 10k on engine rebuild, trans just rebuilt, #s matching, fact alloy wheels, new tires, tilt/tele, r/window def, nice condition --$6750 nego--
The paint is original, and needs to be redone...but no damage other than typical stress cracks in the usual places.
Whatcha all think?Should I jump on this one? If I buy it, do you think I'll be able to get my money out of it in 6 months or so? I mean it is a L82 4spd car...and again, I'm just looking at keeping it until Summer, when I'll probably have some other projects completed and ready to drive.
Ideas? Comments? Thanks!!!

I'd say go for it!! The 79 model year is not rare by any means, but an L-82 4-speed is much harder to come by in 1979. I'd think you could get your money back and then some.
How was the motor rebuilt? Back to stock or beefed up a little?
I have 3 individuals that want to purchase my 79 and have offered several thousand above what that asking price is.

How's the interior? Does the AC work? For $6750, it should all be in reasonable condition. A nice one would only go for about $9k. Try and offer $5500.

Interior is perfect. Carpets and seat covers have been replaced. Guy is a mechanic, but still had the engine and tranny done by experts. Still has smog equipment in perfect working order. (bad for driving, good for value.) He says he hasn't checked to see if the A/C works, because he lives in a windy area of WA near the water. He bought it from the original owner, who is a friend of his, now just doesn't use it anymore and has a Porsche 911 he's working on which takes his attention.
He said that the drivetrain is very strong, interior is great...but just original paint is oxidizing, but absolutely no rust on the frame.
Maybe I'll go out and look at it this weekend. We had a good chat, seeing as we both have an interest Corvettes and Porsches (I'm doing an engine swap on the 1970 911T I bought a few weeks ago (for $1000!!!) this week.)
I keep finding deals like this because Washington State is totally depressed economically. A lot of people are out of money, so they're dumping cars into the used market for quick cash, or because they're moving out of state.
In fact, I just found a '70 Stingray smallblock convertible for $12K asking. Has a 6 speed conversion in it...I'm going to call him too.
But if anyone is looking for a specific car, I'd be happy to look out for them!

Re: Should I buy this '79 ('79ProwlerOrange)
In terms of production, this sucker is very rare: Besides being just 1 of of about 11,000 with a 4-speed (don't know if it's close or wide ratio,) it's 1 of 428 with the G95 optional rear axle ratio. With only 5670 Corvette Dark Blue cars that year, one could assume that this is car is uniquely optioned.
He didn't put 10K into the engine, he has 10K miles on the engine since rebuild.
'79ProwlerOrange, who makes those wheels? They look awfully similar to Hurst mags...where can I find them online?
Thanks,
Sam
