Default Chambered exhaust questions

What is chambered exhaust and who makes them. Can I use them with headers? Are they 2 1/2 or 3.00 inch?
Thanks

Default Re: Chambered exhaust questions (jroyse)

Chambered exhaust have a dimpled section of pipe (that runs between the tranny cross member and end just under the diff) rather than mufflers for noise control. They are available in 2 1/2" but it necks down to ~2" in the chambered portion. Midamerica, Ecklers, and others carry them but I think Allen, Dynomax, and Walker are the manufacturers. They go for $450-$500 new. You'd have to get reducers welded to the pipes to mate up to header collectors. IMO, other than sidepipes, with a good set of headers they sound better than anything else on a vette. This is what I had before I went to the Hookers.
