Last Sunday, I mickey moused the side pipes in order to keep it as quiet as possible. I had everything ready to go. The electric fans were wired in, the carb was primed, etc, etc.

I then fired it up and broke the motor in with no problem. I couldn't drive it because I needed custom exhaust work done. So, I towed the car to a shop yesterday morning and got the exhaust done. The car fired up with no problem after the work was done. It seemed louder than before. You can DEFINITELY hear the lope at idle with the Comp XE 274 cam (230/236 .552"/.555"). It rumbles!

I do have sidepipes and I also have a 12" glasspack welded in on both sides to kill some of the noise. The car ran fine all the way to work. I took it easy on it.

I did take it up to 4,000 rpms on two occasions after work. But I need to baby it and the clutch for at least 500 miles.

Anyway, I will be taking it out this weekend on a few short runs to evaluate the camshaft, etc. The hood (L88 design) shuts fine but I haven't bought an air cleaner yet.

Congrats Bob! Let us know how the car runs with that cam after you break it in! Did you modify the whole valve train? Rocker rollers, etc. Stock intake? Thanks, Fred 71 454 4spd

Sounds like you're "there" Bob. I've got a little 9" air cleaner you can have until you decide what you're doing? It fit's Holley, Q-Jet etc. Think it's 2 5/8" Call me, I wanna go for a ride!!!! Bob
