TILT FRONT END ON C-3
I'M CURIOUS TO KNOW IF THERE IS A KIT OR INSTRUCTIONS TO INSTALL A TILT FRONT END ON THE C-3. I HAVE NEVER SEEN THIS CONVERSION BUT I BET IT WOULD REALLY TURN HEADS.

Ecklers has a full Kit with instructions for the Tilt mod. $$$$$ They also have a fiberglass book that covers repairs to installing a tilt front end.
http://www.showcars-bodyparts.com/corvette.html these guys sell the tilt but do not offer any hardware. That's where I bought mine from.

Well - my tilt front is not a kit.. It's a one of a kind that was built by the original owner of the car - from the original parts (he had a body shop)...
There is a kit that Ecklers sells. It's called the Monza Tilt Front
http://www.ecklers.com/product.asp?p...N0SM2EPTQMDDX4
It's $2199 + a couple 100 bucks for the necessary frame exentions...
There is another company that sells Mako Shark tilt front kits.. However - I don't have the link...

its a 80-82, but looks good. the only problem i have with it is that they didnt bond the hood to the front end to give it a really clean look like olivers.

I don't know, I kinda think it's neat he kept all the body lines/seams. Whereas with Olivers it's an obvious tilt front end :) I'd do a double take when the guy tilted that full expecting him just to lift up a hood.

hmm, could you leave the original hood operative but have a few latches inside to tilt to whole thing? Or would that loose some necessary stiffness? I'm not sure why you'd want to do that...but it's a thought :)

Jenny & I went to see that tilt-a-vet in person... I believe we are in a couple of the pics...
The whole idea was to have a tilt front end that didn't hit the ground when it was opened, and to have the best of both worlds... a tilt front, and a stock hood that can be opened for minor service work etc.
The car was not "chosen" per se, it was in a wreck and needed a front end... and Tom was in the mood for a change. .. the car was on its way to be painted before the mods became "necessary".
It has two sets of latches so that the hood can open either way, and, the nose hinge is a custom design which keeps the nose up high when the hood is opened... not even close ground contact. All electronics are also stock for ease of service. At least they were when we saw the car last.

But do you really need the frame extensions if you have a non-chrome bumper? It says '68-'72 on the extensions, so I would assume not.

Always wanted to do a tilt front end '73. Chrome bumper in the back, no emissions worries so definitely side exhaust. Had a chance last year on an affordable car that needed a front clip anyway. But already had my 76, and all apart ! I think the guy I saw in Carslisle has a link at tilt-a-vet.com ? Does allow use of stock hood and seems well thought out. He had mentioned to me plans for a quick-disconnect harness for front end, so can dolly it away easy when you're servicing the car.
