If I did not already have enough projects to dooooooooo
Here is the newest one. I should have started taking pics earlier but,,, I did not. I have a before. I will post some as we go from now on. This car is going down completely to the glass. There is a couple minor places that need repaired. I hope in a couple days we will be starting to prep for paint. We may stop at the primer, and put a 400+ hp crate motor in it. We are putting one in. But the motor will not be picked up till early Feb. This car will be painted "real" Kandy Apple Red. House of colors brand. It is getting DuPont ChromaPremier System under the HOC. The only issue I have is it has been over 10 years since I have painted "real" Kandy. Those of you that have painted it know what I am talking about. The coats have to go on perfectly even or there will be different shades of color. I guess I will be practicing the paint walk around the car a couple days before and as I am shooting the sealer and primer. Here is a pic of the stage we are at now. By the way it is a "71"

I like the white spoke wagon wheels.....nice touch.... :D
I know what you mean about "real" Kandy....even the silver or gold base coat must be sprayed evenly, or it will show....
Good luck and keep posting the pictures....bring back good ole memories.

I haven't seen a good, true candy (is it really kandy?) paint job in a while. Hope it turns out well.

tshort Thanks Me too. The system is costing over $1,000 just the paint. Hate to flush that much money. The good thing is there is no time burden.
"Kandy" is the way House of Colors spells it.

Re: If I did not already have enough projects to dooooooooo (76 Red)
Hi Bob,
I have a question on the primer in the picture. Is that red over the glass or is there a gray coat under the red? I'm stripping my 69 now and found the red under the gray. I haven't had time to sand down below the gray/red yet but expect it to be 'glass.
Thanks,
Gary

The white coat is sealer sprayed to the glass, then there is the red it is a guard coat. (idea is to not sand through it) then there is the gray once this coat is applied the body work and sanding should be done. We are taking this whole car back to the fiberglass, The previous paint job, (previous owner) did not last long. It looks like he used cheap sealer and primer. We have found a couple small cracks so we want to go all the way and fix anything we can find. We are working on it a few hours everyday for the next 10 days. We should have it in sealer and primer within 2 weeks.
