Ebay - Under $6k for a chrome bumper C3
I thought some of you might be interested in this auction. You might be able to pick up a decent '72 for $5k.

Hi
Yes, can't complain about the price. For somebody that has the knowledge and the time and a few more thousand $ it should be OK.
This early C3's are not getting sheaper anymore. :mad
I think you can't go wrong for 5 K on this car.

He thinks it is CLEAN !!! (He used the word 9 times!!!!)
I was expecting a real horror, and my opinion of "projects" is typically much lower than most others, but I have to admit this one looks decent - shouldn't be too hard to get it to nice shape! :) MJ

The car has 78+ door panels, and likely the doors too, diven the sport mirrors and power lock switches on the door panels. How would he know that the wiper door works when the wiper switch isn't even in the dash? I guess via the override.
I agree, prices are rising on these cars if this is what you get for $5600.

It doesn't look that bad to me. Of course, I'm sitting in my chair looking at the pics, but I don't see anything awful. I'd be the most scared of the frame rust and it doesn't help things that it's parked in the snow where it looks like it's kept. A personal inspection would tell the truth.
Seriously, if this car was put for sale in the C3 for sale section, you would have posts like "if only I had the time/space for another, I'd be all over that". I think it's quite comical to read the hatred towards non-perfect C3's for sale on ebay.

I didn't detect any hatred. Maybe that's just me.... In my experience, pictures ALWAYS look better than the real thing. I can say that based on some of the pics of my car after I got it. Looking at the pics online makes it look pretty decent, but man it looked much worse in the flesh.
So here you've got a car with an unknown quantity for a motor, later model doors for some reason, some rust in the frame, slightly butchered bezel, bad paint, etc. Now that I look at it like that, it's not much worse than my '69 when I bought it back in 1998 :D

I guess I didn't really mean "hatred", but extremely critisized (sp?). I only occasionally read these and go to the C3 For Sale section, but the difference in attitude towards them is completely different.

The car is worth an inspection. The car could be quite nice for a few more bucks. If anyone is serious, send an email and copy to ebay that the car will be bought at the "Buy it Now price contingent on personal inspection.

Any guesses on how cars get like that?
I'm guessing the guys on this forum (myself included) have no clue. It's just too foreign to imagine letting a great car become a POS.
Does it have to involve a kid or is it just a bubba?
Seriously, how does this happen? What leads up to it? When does the love vanish and the bad ideas begin?

Hope the new owner doesn't get more than they barganed for. I think that unless you intend to sell a C3 to the great unwashed (those not in the know of what to look for in a C3) that the standard is detailed photos and plenty of them...particularly of all of the frame junctions. After all how much of a bargan is a '72 Corvette for $4,000 if it needs a frame and other "finishing" work.
I think the price it sold for is fine. If it turns out to be a bride of Frankenstein, it can always be parted out for more than the new owner paid.

Fortunately it was stored in a garage. Many people get to the same point and for lack of indoor space, cover the vette outside. Since it is only a short term deal in the beginning, no care is given to how it was stored. It gets worse when the vette was parked becuase of an accident and lack of money to repair.
