OFF TOPIC: Anyone else here collect / shoot firearms?
This is a post to see if anyone else here has the 'Vette bug and is a shooter. I know that the NRA and guns don't seem to be real popular by some, but, I am a free, red-blooded American, that is interested in Corvettes and I collect guns. I am an NRA member and I believe in the 2nd Amendment to the Constitution of the United States.
I tried a 'reverse post' on www.ar15.com where I hang out when I'm not in here. I posted, "Anyone into Corvettes?"
I didn't get a resonse from my AR15 cronies, so what about you Vette fans?
Just curious.

I Deer Hunt as often as I can. It is not as much as before I moved from Bowling Green KY two years ago. Florida is great for driving the Vette but not so good in the Deer Hunting. I have several Hunting rifles and a couple pistols I wish I had and AR 15 to play with though.

I shoot IPSC and have a "few" firearms, but I don't really consider myself a collector. I can't stand to watch them collecting dust and have never bought one that I won't shoot. I am also a CCW holder for many years in several states.

I have a Rem 30:06, Knight .50 cal and some small cal rifles. My yard came with a 300 yard rifle range. After I get my vette the way I want it I plan on getting a few blackpowder pistols. I do like the AR15's and WWII rifles but don't have the money.

I shoot a bit. I'm an NRA life member. Shot pistol and rife matches for a few years. Still go out from time to time. Mostly pistol because I'm too lazy to drag all the rifle stuff out for a fun shoot.

I used to collect US military arms before kids, they take all the money now. I have all makes and most manufacturers of the O3. O3A3.O3A4.M1 carbine and Garand,1917 Enfield. I do have an AR15 and M16. All these were bought years ago when they were cheap to today's prices. I was looking through my Chevrolet Corvette dealer parts book, dated 1983, and I wish I had bought more parts then to, talk about cheap. Slowly working on the 71 convertible, gathering parts. The 67 has a leaking evap core, got the parts, saving to have it done. I do hunt, mainly birds. Parent's have 1500 acres of prime hunting that I take my 15 year old out to deer hunt. Sat in the blind yesterday evening and watched deer, he is very selective, which is good for a kid his age. Got to take him back out this evening, maybe we'll see the big one.

I own a 30-06, 35 Remington, three .22s, a couple shotguns and a 1859 Enfield muzzel loader that I got when I was in Afghanistan. It is an old British weapon.
Of course, at work I get to play with M4s, M16s, automatic weapons, AT4s, M203 grenade launchers, Claymore mines, grenades and a host of other fun toys. Just one advantage of being in the Army. :flag

Oh, I dunno...
I actually mainly do a lot of pistol shooting. Mainly with my Walther P99 and Browning Hi-Power(on my belt above). I prefer 9mm.

Re: OFF TOPIC: Anyone else here collect / shoot firearms? (Steve Straus)
I just sold a Pre-Ban Colt Sporter Match Heavy Barrell AR-15 that I bought 10 years ago in order to buy some more corvette parts.
About broke my heart getting rid of it but I just was not doing as much shooting as I use. I have owned and had firearms since I was 13 and living in Iowa we have fantastic hunting and I do all of it. Wild turkey hunting, Phesant, Quail, Deer, and Coyote are my choices. Next weekend second season Deer opens and I will be going. Still have a few firearms that I won't be getting rid of though.

Re: OFF TOPIC: Anyone else here collect / shoot firearms? (coltcarbine)
You mean to tell me that you own not one but several of those Nasty Black Assault Weapons ?
Well, so do I!!!!
I have an AR-15 Olympic Arms 16" Heavy Barrel Carbine with an A-1 Upper Receiver , A-1 Buttestock and Entry light. It also has an extra 7.62 X 39 upper in the same configuration.
Then there is a Proffessional Ordinance 4 pound Kevelar AR-15 in 223 also with a Flat-top upper and a small Red-Dot scope from TASCO on it.
I sold my Benelli Super 90 and repaced it with a lowly 18" Remington 870 12 ga. Tacticle Folder. It uses the Low-Recoil folder from Knoxx Industries. it also has the entry light forearm. I needed a short entry weapon and at the time this was it.
I carry a Glock 21 45 cal, My BUG is a P-32 Keltec in my Vest Holster and a Robbie Dalton Custom Cupid out the front automatic knife in my left front pocket and then a S&W 442 38 cal airweight on my left ankle.
Off duty I usually vary my carry with the Keltec in a back pocket holster or the 442 on my ankle or a Glock 23 in 40 cal S&W in an inside the pants rear holster.
I have worked Interstate Drug Interdiction for several years and you have to be prepared for anything. That is why so much firepower on me. It really isn't that much weight with all of the modern polymers these guns are made from.
I have a few more weapons but these have been my main working tools for several years.
I am in process of changing jobs. I have spent my time in Law Enforcement (be 50 soon) and am going into a Quality Control Job with Carrier Air Conditioning Corp. I will only work part time with the Sheriff's Department. It's been fun but it gets old after this long. Time to let the younger ones move up and worry about what's around the corner.
Nice collection you have,JIM

Anyone here ever fire a SIG suar, my squadron issues them to us ( the P228). I love that one but other favorites include the browning high power, glock 21, berretta, and any custom M1911A1.

Ya, got a few...Winchester 12 pump shotgun, antique Colt 45, S&W 40, S&W 357, Marlin lever 30-30, Ruger 9mm, Rem 30.06, Browning lever 22,
22 revolver replica...
Went to a gun show yesterday, saw a $20,000 shotgun !!! I would MUCH rather have a 20k Vette...
Shooting is a great tool for young kids. In this world of gray values, shooting is an absolute. When the rangemaster tells us to put the guns down... PUT THE GUNS DOWN !!! KEEP THE RIFLE POINTED DOWN RANGE.
Just like driving...

Wow! A lot of replies!
I actually, build, collect, shoot, rebuild AR-15's. Here's a pic of the one's I currently have. There is one not shown that belongs to my wife, a post ban DPMS AR. I apologize for the low pic quality, a digi cam is on my list!
Shoot safely all!

You have some nice firearms there
I recently purchased a Bushmaster DCM competition Rifle. It shoots really well. I got it for High Power competition. I used to use my M1 Garand.
I also shot Bull Eye with a Browning Buckmark, the silhouette model with the 10" bull barrel. I know it's the wrong model but I achieved Expert with it.
I have numerous hunting rifles and center fire pistols. My carry gun is a Springfield Armory 1911-A1 in .45 ACP. I'm licensed to carry concealed PA.
I'm also a Life Member of the NRA since 1990.
I've been reloading for about 10 years now.
